Episode 131: Dante Mullinix Revisited

In episodes 76 and 77, I told you the heartbreaking story of two-year-old Dante Mullinix, who died just six days before his third birthday. Tyree Bowie, who was seeing Dante’s mother, Leah Mullinix, told police he thought Dante had choked on animal crackers, but Dante’s death was ruled a homicide caused by traumatic brain injury with strangulation and chest compression.

Many believed Tyree was innocent, and recent events have proven that theory correct. In this episode, I’ll provide recent updates on Dante’s case. You’ll also hear me discuss the lack of justice in Dante’s case with his aunt, Sarah Mullinix, as well as Tyree Bowie himself.

This is Episode 131: Dante Mullinix Revisited.

Episode 114: Jasmine Cannady & JJ Bright

On a seemingly mundane Monday afternoon in February of 2021, a 911 call summoned police to an unassuming two-story brick home in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. On the front porch, officers found 48-year-old Krisinda Bright waiting for them, covered in what she freely admitted was the blood of two of her children: 16-year-old JJ Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady, both of whom were inside the home, dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

JJ, a transgender boy who socially transitioned at age 12, and Jasmine, who identified as nonbinary and used they/them pronouns, have been consistently misgendered by most media outlets from the start, and JJ has been deadnamed in news articles more times than I can count. In life, they deserved the respect of being referred to by their preferred pronouns and JJ by his chosen name; in death, the very least we can do is remember them with dignity and respect, the way they both deserve.

This is the tragic story of Jasmine Cannady and JJ Bright.

Episode 95: Darisabel Baez

The day after her second birthday, Darisabel Baez was rushed to the hospital in York, Pennsylvania covered in so many bruises that her appearance was likened to “camouflage” by first responders. After Darisabel died from her injuries, her mother, Neida Baez, and Neida’s boyfriend, Harve Johnson, were arrested and ultimately charged with murder.

This is the story of another child whose life was cut short by her mother’s live-in boyfriend. It’s also the story of a little girl whose savage beating death by a video game controller and her own hiking boot must not be what we remember best about her or the reason her memory lives on.

This is the tragic story of Darisabel Baez.
